A-grade pins (standard)

A-grade pins are the best of the batch and the highest quality pins I offer.

They are close to perfect but may still exhibit minor imperfections not visible at first glance, and are mostly only visible under certain light and angles. These could be minor flaws such as:

  • Tiny air bubble in a non-central part of the design
  • A tiny spec of dust in a non-central part of the design
  • Minor scratches in the metal
  • Slight underfill, overfill or uneven areas

B-grade pins (seconds)

B-grade pins seem fine at first glance, but under close inspection you can see some minor imperfections. These are perfect for people that don't need a mint condition pin, but just really want the design or want to wear the pin.

Because of their minor imperfections, B Grades are sold at a slight discount depending on the complexity of the pin. They can have flaws such as:

  • Scratches or chips in the metal or the paint
  • Specs of dust, small paint splatter or air bubbles embedded in the paint
  • Small areas of underfilled or missing paint
  • Discoloration of metal or enamel

Flaws you won't find on the B-grade pin are:

  • Gaps of missing paint or wrong color paint
  • Blue lines of missing plating

C-grade pins (free grade)

These pins are noticebly flawed and are not sold on my shop. They can have flaws such as:

  • Burnt edges or blue lines of missing plating
  • Spaces of missing enamel
  • Multiple B-grade defects

S-grade pins/Collector Grade

These pins are usually A grades that I keep as a model for photography, for my portfolio of work, or for display purposes. They most closely comply with my design specifications. I do not sell S Grade or Collector Grade pins and do not make any exceptions. Due to a variety of factors, mostly the varying nature of pin grading practices and the handmade nature of pins in general, I will not take requests to scrutinize pins to find the best quality unit in a batch, for any particular customer, no matter the circumstances.
